Daily Meditation 07 11 09

The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you. Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Nothing can ever separate us. It’s for you I created the universe. I love you. There’s only one catch. Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you’ll reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.

Today’s Meditation:

“The party wouldn’t have been complete without you.” As we go through life and deal with our individual trials and tribulations and successes and happy moments, it’s important to keep this in mind. We belong here, and we have the benefit of the unconditional love of our God, however we perceive God. The grace and love of God is there, unconditionally, but it’s not shoved down our throats or injected into our veins. It’s hanging right next to us like grapes on a vine, which are sweet and nutritious, but will help us only if we reach out and pluck one and eat it.

We are full of amazing potential if we work in conjunction with God, secure in the knowledge of the love that will support us through all of our trials. One person working alone can have great effect, but two working together can have even more than twice the effect–it’s the law of synchronicity. Just imagine how effective we can be if we’re working with God on our side, if we tap into the synchronicity that definitely is available to us–if we dare and care to reach out and accept the gift of grace.

If I call myself “unworthy” or if I get angry at myself for every little mistake that I make, I’m basically closing the door to love and forgiveness. As a being who is learning every day of my life, I’m bound to make mistakes. And the things that I hurt myself about today seem insignificant or even funny tomorrow. So why close the door to grace for simple mistakes? Accept and move on. And live life as we’re meant to live our lives: as wonderful beings who are loved unconditionally and who have amazing potential. Let’s reach out and accept the love so that we can strike out and fulfill our potential.

The moment of grace comes to us in the dynamics of any situation we walk into. It is an opportunity that God sews into the fabric of a routine situation. It is a chance to do something creative, something helpful, something healing, something that makes one unmarked spot in the world better off for our having been there. We catch it if we are people of discernment.
